“Participation in the Limassol Marathon GSO of 28th February are developing beyond our best expectations” said in a press conference to present the events sponsors Spyros Spyrou, the Marathons Organisational Manager.
Our target for the first year to go global, which was for 500 foreign runners and as many as that from Cyprus is to be exceeded. Apart from this, the response for the charity walks is also great. 5 charity organizations are directly related to the event these being the following:
Make a Wish – an organization for children with Cancer.
Volunteer Doctors – an organization to aid people in need because of conflicts or disasters abroad.
Europa Donna Cyprus – an organization fighting breast cancer.
The Association in Support of people with Alzheimers.
Children in Need (Nicosia section).
At the press conference Spyrou took the opportunity to thank all the sponsors saying that “without the support and trust of them we could not create and grow this fascinating event for Limassol and Cyprus as a whole”. A special reference he made to the Main Sponsor, the Cyprus Tourism Organisation which was the first one to declare their support and who enabled the organisaers to move ahead.
