Regulations

Registration

 

Online through our website or through activeeurope.com until 18th of February 2011, 17:00 hrs.

 

Sign up and Number Pick up

 

After your online registration, you also have to present for sign up and for your personal number (bib) pick up. Distribution will start on Friday the 18th of February and will end on Saturday the 19th of February, the day prior to the race.

 

Office hours:

  • Friday, 18th February: 10:00 – 17:00 hrs
  • Saturday, 19th February: 10:00 – 20:00 hrs

Report Time at Start Point

 

All athletes and walkers have to be at the start point, at Molos, at least 1 hour prior to the start time of the events.

 

NOTE: Roads along the race course are to be closed down before 08:00 hrs.

 

Race Day Coach Transportation of Judges and Volumteers to the Start

 

Coaches transporting Judges and Volunteers will leave at 08:00 hrs from the start point and will drop them off at different points along the course.

 

Warm up Area for Athletes

 

All athletes will have the possibility to warm up behind the start point.

 

Handling of Personal Items (Clothing) of Athletes

 

Athletes will have to place their clothing and personal belongings in plastic bags.

 

NOTE: Bags will have to show bib numbers and at 08:30 hrs, (approx. half an hour prior to the start time) athletes are to submit their bags marked by bib numbers containing their clothes to the special place located near the start/finish line. Volunteers of the Organizing Committee will be available for the marathon runners. Retrieval of bags after the finish time will take place at a specific place near the finish line, indicated by adequate signing.

 

NOTE: The plastic bags must be sealed and must not contain travel documents, expensive items, money or medicines.

 

Start of the 5th Limassol Marathon GSO

 

The start of the race will be indicated by a gunshot at 09:00 hrs.

 

Race Course

 

Roads along the race course will be closed to vehicular traffic throughout the entire length of the race and signs will be at each 2.5 kilometer from the 5th to the 42nd.

 

Timing Devices

 

There will be a vehicle with a large digital chronometer on top of it, in front of the lead runner. There will also be a double-sided digital chronometer at the finish line.

 

Time Completion of Race

 

The time limit of finishing is 6 hours from the start. However, Athletes can continue running over this time limit but will be running under their own responsibility. The police will reopen roads to the traffic after the arrival of the last athlete coming through within the time limit of 6 hours. Detailed time limits per each 5 km are as follows:

 

  • KM- 5>09:50
  • KM-10>10:35
  • KM-15>11:15
  • KM-20>12:00
  • KM-25>12:45
  • KM-30>13:25
  • KM-35>14:10
  • KM-40>15:00

 

At the afore-mentioned times, stations operating during the course of the race will close down.

 

Medical Support throughout the Race

 

The Organizing Committee holds responsibility for providing medical support along the race course by setting up medical facilities and units. At the start line, along the course as well and at the finish, there will be first aid medical facilities available as follows:

 

  • At the start/finish point there will be a medical tent with a doctor and a physiotherapist, to provide medical assistance.
  • At the finish line there will be a mobile ambulance unit with CPR and First Aid.
  • There will be 2 ambulances on standby in case they need to pick up athletes in serious need.
  • Each of the 15 course stations will have 2 First Aiders.

 

For additional protection, 1 Police motorbike will follow the athletes throughout the race in case of emergency. Also, 2 cars of the Civil Defense department will be present.

 

Refreshment

 

Mineral water will be distributed to all participants at the start and the finish area as well as approximately every 2.5 km along the course and between stations (KM 7.5 – 12.5 – 17.5 – 22.5 – 27.5 – 32.5 – 37.5), there will also be wet sponges for refreshing.

 

From 5 km onwards, the athletes can place personal refreshments and supplements at existing stops every 5 km. At the stops KM 5, KM 10, KM 15, KM 20, KM 25, KM 30, KM 35, KM 40 as well as at the finish line, isotonic drinks will be provided. Personal drinks will be placed on the very first tables of the afore-mentioned stops.

 

NOTE: Personal refreshments are to be submitted to the bib assigning office a day prior to the race (Saturday) in order to be transferred to relative spots along the race. Bibs as well as the exact stop (KM) of the refreshment must be clearly indicated on the bottles.

 

Restrooms

 

There will be toilets available at the starting area as well as near the course stations.

 

Finishing Procedure

 

Steps of the finishing procedure are as follows:

  • Arrival at the finish line under the arch
  • Cross the mixed zone
  • Receive medical treatment (if necessary)
  • Distribution of water bottles and isotonic drinks
  • Receive participation certificate and medal
  • Receive bags with personal belongings
  • Use of locker rooms and changing facilities as well as restrooms

 

There will be a diagram indicating various facilities in the finishing area.

 

Prize Assignment

 

Trophies will be presents to the first three (3) athletes (men / women) who cross the finish line.

 

Photography Coverage

 

Photographers authorized by the Organizing Committee will take pictures of athletes during the race course and at the finish.
