Second Pancyprian School Road Race" I run for my health "Tuesday January 29, 2019, 10.00 am, Limassol Pier & nbsp;


As an innovation, in the effort to raise the awareness of school children for a healthy lifestyle through physical activity , characterizes the Ministry of Education and Culture the Pancyprian School Road Race "I run for my Health". The race is organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Ministry of Culture) in collaboration with OPAP Limassol Marathon and supporter the Municipality of Limassol, on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at the Limassol Pier. & Nbsp;

For the presentation of the race "I run for my Health", a press conference was held today at the Ministry of Education, in which a greeting was read by the Minister of Education and Culture, Mr. Costas Hambiaouris. & nbsp;

Mr. Hambiaouris in his greeting, stated that the race "I run for my health" is part of the National Planning for Sports, in the thematic unit "social dimension of sports, with the main goal the health of citizens ". The Ministry of Education and Culture, stressed the Minister of Education, recognizing the value of sports and physical activity as a means of education and training, implements a diverse and multifaceted planning for school sports, which involves, every year, more than 15 thousand students and Gymnasiums, Lyceums and Technical Schools of public and private education. & nbsp;

On his part, the Director of OPAP Limassol , Mr. Spyros Spyrou, thanked the EPA for the acceptance of the proposal for co-organization of the race and stressed the importance of such events, which aim to create a culture of exercise in the new generation.

The Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Physical Education Inspector, Ms. Kalli Hadjiosif, noted that this Struggle is a means of achieving the overriding goal of Physical Education for Lifelong Exercise and Health. According to Ms. Hatziiosif, more than 1,300 students from Gymnasiums, Lyceums and Technical Schools from all over Cyprus will take part in the race, a number which makes the race the most populous of this school year. & Nbsp;

Ms. Hadjiosif also stressed that the importance of this race is confirmed by the fact that the event was chosen as a good practice-success story of Cyprus, in the context of the promotion of physical activity for health in the school environment and the prevention of obesity. Details of this action are posted on the websites of the World Health Organization and the European Commission. In addition, this year's event was embraced by the Committee against Addictive Substances through Sports, which has been set up under the direction of the President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Anastasiadis. This year the students will run against the addictions and a special banner will be hung at the venue of the race. & Nbsp;

The Chairman of the Organizing Committee thanked the co-organizer of the OPAP race Limassol Marathon , the Municipality of Limassol, the Limassol Police Department and the Limassol Public Works for the support as well as the sponsors of the event the company Fotos Fotiadis Distributors and the water Agros. & Nbsp;

The race will be held in two distances and four categories: 1,500 meter high school for boys and girls and a 3,000 meter road for high school boys and girls. Each student will compete with a separate number, which has an electronic time recording sensor.
