The OPAP Limassol Marathon was the big winner at the Cyprus Tourism Awards 2020. The ceremony showcased the most ambitious, innovative and impressive businesses in the Cyprus tourism sector.
At a period of unprecedented circumstances, the OPAP Limassol Marathon won 4 awards, delivering once more, the ancient Greek saying of «ευ αγωνίζεσθαι» which means fair play.
More precisely, the OPAP Limassol Marathon together with the Limassol Municipality, received a gold award in the Strategic Investment / Cooperation category, a silver award in the category of Initiatives to extend the tourist season, for their contribution in the extension of the tourist period, as well as, a bronze award in Sports category for being the largest sports event in Cyprus.
Along with the Race Sponsor of the Half Marathon Race, Muskita Aluminium Industries, we have won the bronze award in the Initiatives to protect the environment / Raising awareness category for the launch of GO BLUE campaign. GO BLUE is an eco- friendly project aiming to raise awareness and educate on how to run, organize and operate big running events in Cyprus by protecting the environment.
The Cyprus Tourism Awards ceremony - the most significant distinction in the tourism industry – was organised by the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Tourism, the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents, The Association of Cyprus Tourist Enterprises and the Cyprus Hotel Association.
