A new era for running events by Eleven Blue Events Ltd

A new era for the running events in Cyprus is starting with the milestone decision of the partnership between the two major international sports events of Cyprus, the OPAP Limassol Marathon and the Radisson Blu Larnaka International Marathon.
The decision by the two running events to join their forces sets a significant milestone to bring Cyprus to the global map of the running community and the sports tourism, under the auspices of the new company that is named Eleven Blue Events Ltd.
The announcement of the new company was made during an event on Friday the 17th of September in a Nicosia restaurant, in the presence of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Yiannis Karousos. Also present were supporters and representatives from both events. The event was presented by the journalist, Maniana Kalogeraki.
In his greeting, the Minister congratulated the heads of the two running events for their decision to join forces, as he stated that they are a bright example of cooperation and that the running events bring a lot of added benefits to the community, the health of the participants and to the tourism in Cyprus, whilst he also emphasized the fact that these events take under consideration the viable urban mobility.
The Minister of Health, Michalis Hadjipantela, in a video message, due to his absence in a working trip with the President of the Cyprus Republic in Athens, also hailed the initiative of the two events to join forces, declaring the support of his Ministry in the events that will keep adherence to the health protocol in order to avoid the spread of Covid-19.
The president of the Board of Directors of Eleven Blue Events, Spyros Spyrou stated that the new company that was created by the two events, OPAP Limassol Marathon and Radisson Blu Larnaka International Marathon, is starting on its own marathon, its own voyage to Ithaca, into a new era for the running movement in Cyprus and in general for our society. “With great responsibility and respect to the runners, and appreciation for our sponsors, we can promise bigger events, perfectly organized, more benefits for our cities, our country, a bigger charity and philanthropic impact, more promotions for tourists, an honest cooperation with all the institutions of Cyprus and a bigger value for our sponsors”.
The Managing Director of Eleven Blue Events, Costas Ntaltas, declared that a new era is starting for the running movement, creating one of the biggest organizations in South East Europe. “We will continue supporting the community, tourism and we will set the bar higher on every level. We are waiting to welcome you all in Larnaca on the 21st of November and in Limassol on the 19th and 20th of March, keeping all the health protocols of the Ministry of Health, in order to run together”.
The General Director of KOEAS, Antonis Giorgallidis, stated that the Association will support the newfound company and announced that on the 21st of November, when the Radisson Blu Larnaka International Marathon will take place, it will be part of the Pancypriot Championship for the Marathon Race in Men and Women of KOEAS.
“The Radisson Blu Larnaka International Marathon event has surpassed all of our expectations and I am glad that this great event is taking place in our city, the city of Zeno”, stated the Mayor of Larnaca, Mr. Andreas Vyras, who is certain that the cooperation between the two running events will bring even more benefits to the local communities and to Cyprus as a whole.
With the partnership of the OPAP Limassol Marathon and the Radisson Blu Larnaka International Marathon, the experience of the runners and the visitors from Cyprus and abroad will be the best possible, as the potential of both organizers, the Municipalities of Limassol and Larnaka will be greatly improved. Also, the participation of the supporters and sponsors that trust and support in kind the two events, will be even greater.
The OPAP Limassol Marathon and the Radisson Blu Larnaka International Marathon are the biggest event in the host cities, Limassol and Larnaca. The events that grow every year lengthen the touristic period of the two cities and manage to attract thousands of visitors from all over the world, who return back to their countries bringing with them memorable experiences and keep returning every year to live through moments of pure joy, offered by the two events.
The know-how of each event and the experience that was obtained during the running events will improve with the joining of forces of OPAP Limassol Marathon and the Radisson Blu Larnaka International Marathon that promise to provide the utmost to each participant. Also, the initiatives to provide value to the community, the volunteer programs, the “Green Marathon” actions and the participation of people with disabilities in the events will be further strengthened.
Despite the quarantine as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and the absence of big running events during the past year, the running movement kept going strong, sending the message that the participation in future running events will be even stronger.
Eleven Blue Events is starting its race calendar to launch a new era in the running events. The OPAP Limassol Marathon and the Radisson Blu Larnaka International Marathon will mark only the beginning.
The Radisson Blu Larnaka International Marathon is very close. On the 21st of November 2021, it will welcome the thousands of runners in the city of Zeno, bringing new, unique experiences. The OPAP Limassol Marathon will take place on the 19th and 20th of March 2022.
The 14th edition of the OPAP Limassol Marathon , which was scheduled for the 27th and 28th of November 2021, is re-scheduled for the 19th and 20th of March 2022. Our runners eligible to run on the 14th edition can choose between participating in the Radisson Blu Larnaka International Marathon on 21 November 2021 or at the OPAP Limassol Marathon in March 2022 until the 30th of September.
