Hundreds of kids are preparing to run at the Dashin Foundation Youth Race and experience the thrill of participating in the largest sports event in Cyprus – the OPAP Limassol Marathon!
With their participation, the kids will receive a BIB Number, as all professional runners do, a race-dedicated t-shirt, a participation diploma, and the much-desired Dashin's Foundation Youth Race Medal!
Dashin's Foundation Youth Race was presented at a Press Conference on the 15th of March at the Limassol Municipal House in the presence of the Founder of the Dashin Foundation, the Mayor of Limassol, the OPAP Limassol Marathon Director and the representative of the Minister of Social Welfare.
The Mayor of Limassol, Mr. Nicos Nicolaides, described the Youth Race as "the most important race out of the six races of the event" as it directly implicates "the most valuable part of our society – our kids".
Ms. Julia Dashina expressed her excitement that this is the sixth consecutive year the Foundation has collaborated with the OPAP Limassol Marathon to organize the Youth Race. She emphasized that "this event has become a tradition for some families, and it will be our pleasure to host them once again", as she continued to state that "above all, the positive memories that we adults can create for our children today, will continue to influence them towards seeking a healthy lifestyle tomorrow – and that is a priceless gift". For almost two years, the Foundation has been supporting children with additional needs and their families. This year, they have been invited to participate in the race to emphasize that they are part of a loving and supportive community where all children are valued equally. We look forward to them experiencing the joy of running and participating in this sporting event.
Mr. Spyros Spyrou focused on the social benefits of Dashin's Foundation Youth Race: "the participation of kids aged six to eleven is a great thing by itself and complements the promotion of healthy living and active lifestyle to the younger generations".
Andrey & Julia Dashin's Foundation Youth Race will take place on the 18th of March at 11:30 with two dedicated starts, one for ages six to eight (800 meters) and another for ages nine to eleven (1200 meters). Participation is free, but registration is required. Our young runners can register at www.limassolmarathon.com and in our Registration Offices until one hour before the start of the race!
