In a significant collaborative effort, the OPAP Limassol Marathon sponsor, SMT Shipping, and the OPAP Limassol Marathon organisers, 11 Blue Events, have undertaken a beach clean-up activity at the Crowne Plaza beach in Limassol. This initiative is a part of SMT Shipping's commitment towards its sponsorship of the 2023 event and was carried out on Sunday, September 10, 2023.
Both organisations saw their employees actively participating in the beach cleaning event. Before the clean-up, participants also had the unique opportunity to be introduced to the sport of dragon boating, guided by the experienced instructors from the Raging Mouflons Dragon Boat Team, a sport steadily gaining traction in Cyprus. The raging Mouflons Dragon Boat Team are a consistent supporter of various social and athletic actions of the OPAP Limassol Marathon.
It's worth noting that this isn't the first eco-friendly initiative spearheaded by SMT Shipping. Back in January 2023, SMT Shipping partnered with 11 Blue Events as part of their OPAP Limassol Marathon sponsorship for a tree planting event in Polemidia, Limassol, graced by the Commissioner of the Environment Clelia Vassiliou.
