Running for a Brighter Future: Supporting Education for Underprivileged Children

Sagapo Children’s Foundation focuses on empowering children and communities globally through education, aiming to create better learning environments and raise awareness about the importance of education among parents, communities, and governments.

During a past Marathon, they raised funds through the Marathon for the "Free Hands" program in Limassol, supporting underprivileged children’s education. This year, Sagapo plans to run again for the same cause.

Can you introduce your charity and provide an overview of its mission and purpose?

Sagapo Children’s Foundation is a humanitarian organization committed to helping children, families, and communities worldwide reach their full potential through education. Our mission is to create a better learning environment and raise awareness about the importance of proper education. By empowering children with knowledge, we aim to transform lives, foster hope, and encourage positive change in communities now and for future generations.

What inspired the establishment of your charity, and what motivated its founders to address this particular cause?

The foundation was inspired by the belief that education is a fundamental right and a cornerstone for human, social, and economic development. The founders were motivated to address the global issue of 67 million primary school-age children being out of school. Their passion for education stems from a desire to combat risks like exploitation, early marriage, and poverty while giving children the tools to live responsibly and thrive in their communities.

Are there any specific populations or communities that your charity focuses on serving? What led to the decision to prioritize these groups?

Sagapo focuses on serving underprivileged children worldwide, with special attention to those at risk of being deprived of education, particularly girls. This focus stems from the understanding that education plays a pivotal role in breaking the cycles of poverty, disease, and inequality. The foundation prioritizes these groups to ensure access to basic knowledge, life skills, and opportunities for all children to evolve and succeed.

What specific initiatives or projects have been supported with the funds raised from the OPAP Limassol Marathon until today?

Funds raised from the OPAP Limassol Marathon have supported the "Free Hands" program in Limassol, which helps underprivileged children access education.

Is there any specific case or individual your charity supports through this year's marathon fundraising campaign?

This year, Sagapo Children’s Foundation plans to continue supporting the "Free Hands" program in Limassol. The program directly benefits underprivileged children, ensuring they receive the education they deserve. By rallying behind this cause, we hope to make an even greater impact on their lives.
