Renos Evangelakis's Journey

Meet Renos, a resilient soul who defied the odds after a serious car accident in 2010. Despite facing a 50% chance of survival, Renos embarked on a remarkable journey of recovery.

Now, nearly 12 years later, Renos embraces life with passion, finding joy in rehabilitation and physical activity. Renos participates in races to inspire and spread awareness, running for the freedom it brings.

What initially made you interested in running?

After nearly 12 years since my car accident, I embrace my 'new' self, as I am now better than before. With a 50% chance of survival, I defied the odds and embarked on a journey of recovery. I find joy in rehabilitation, exercise, the gym, and physical activity in general. Particularly, I appreciate how one can control their body. I now have a passion for life and sports, regardless of any disability.

Tell us your story, why you run.

To inspire every individual to believe in themselves. In sports, we are all equal, irrespective of gender, religion, color, body type, mobility challenges, or any other form of diversity. Challenges may arise, but seizing opportunities and turning them in your favor is crucial. As I mention in my book ΣΑΝ ΕΦΙΑΛΤΗΣ, 'There is not only black and grey. If you train well, you will also appreciate gray.'

Have you ever participated in any races or marathons for a charitable cause? What motivated you to combine running with supporting a cause?

I participated in many races. I love races with a social message to the general public.

Please give us more details if you are running for a specific cause this year.

Just feeling free. I don't want anymore to be «chained»
